Position Overview:

As a Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Tracking Operations Event Analyst, your role is pivotal in contributing to the success of the Joint Commercial Operation Cell's (JCO) Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Tracking (SRT) operations. You'll provide valuable insight in providing disadvantaged combatant commands with annotated commercial surveillance, reconnaissance, and tracking through Operational Planning Products (OPPs) using commercial electro-optical (EO), synthetic aperture radar (SAR), multi-spectral and infrared (IR) imagery. Additionally, you'll provide operational support, contribute to strategic development, and foster continuous improvement in SRT operational processes and methodologies.

The selected candidate will initially support combatant commands request to monitor/detect illegal fishing (IUUF) activities and to support humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations. The event analyst will also be a prevalent leader in onboarding new SRT mission sets into operations following successful prototyping.

Additionally, you'll provide operational support, contribute to strategic development, and foster continuous improvement in SRT operational processes and methodologies.

The advanced operations analyst will also be a prevalent leader in onboarding new SRT mission sets into operations following successful prototyping.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for the defense of space assets against potential threats, to include adversarial satellites, and other adversarial actions.
  • Create policy and guidance to shape JCO procedures, tactics, and techniques.
  • Develop and coordinate plans for managing operational responses to protect assets during routine missions and in response to specific threats.
  • Work closely with the Publicly Available Information Research teams to receive and analyze information about potential threats and any other information related to asset protection and defense.
  • Spearhead research and development initiatives to advance the effectiveness of operational systems.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and incorporate innovative solutions into operations.
  • Develop requirements, policies, and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Develop methods for testing and validating compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Provide surge support to augment operational response during space-based emergencies or attacks, managing resources and coordinating with other divisions to mitigate impacts.
  • Prepare contingency plans and quick-reaction strategies to effectively handle unexpected situations.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Mathematics
  • 10 years of exercise support and/or space operations experience is preferred.
  • Experience with analyzing information from multiple sources and deducing requirements/needs
  • Be a proactive, fast learner with the willingness and ability to work in a dynamic high visibility environment with routine engagement with executive levels of government.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of both independent analysis and collaborating with teams
  • Strong interest and enthusiasm for understanding and assisting with global humanitarian disaster response activities and operations; mission focused and willing to make a difference
  • Ability to effectively prioritize efforts based on a combination of factors (e.g. impact, relevance, findings, etc., produce relevant insights and conclusions, and effectively communicate results
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; the ability to work well with other analysts and communicate to senior military and civilian customers
  • Familiarity with military operations, personnel, regulations, and organizations desired.
  • Experience leading diverse teams and personnel of varying experience levels and skill sets.
  • Ability to operate independently and manage team elements to meet contract requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen to meet security requirements.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Proven experience space systems engineering, satellites, and operations/space craft systems or data analytics background in a space environment
  • Ability to manage aspects of planning teams and provide input and expertise to real world events and exercises, including coordination of staffing, operations, risk modeling, logistics, force protection, and cost analysis.
  • Understanding and application of Continuity of Operations, including developing strategies of steady-state and response operations, establishing relationships/connections with disaster planning and management; analyzing performance gaps.
  • Experience working in a joint and interagency environment across various levels of government
  • Able to guide and mentor other analysts and develop more effective data processing techniques
  • Confidently communicate insights and findings and their significance to senior leadership
  • Experience working in geographically dispersed teams.
