SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor and/or Clinical Supervisor, the MHS-II responds to youth referred by Hawaii Cares crisis line, conducts participant intake and initiates all forms required to open case. Provides crisis stabilization, engages with the client and his/her/their caregivers, provides encouragement and support, and ensures client safety by evaluating and helping to facilitate alternatives to alleviate the immediate situational stress causing the crisis. Provides face-to-face assessment of participant's risk for harm to self or others, and in collaboration with the participant and caregivers, facilitates creation of crisis prevention and safety plans. MH Specialist protects participant confidentiality and maintains a list of collaborative contacts specific to participants' needs, and provides information and referral to community resources. Additional duties include obtaining and entering required participant/caregiver consents, required forms and participant data into the online case record, following shift schedules, submitting mileage logs and other miscellaneous reports in a timely manner, attending program staff meetings, participating in monthly individual and group supervision, and meeting all training requirements as assigned especially those relating to pertinent laws and cultural/ethnic diversity. There may be other related duties as assigned.
