Includes Coverage Attorney I duties and additionally review of Company proposals for insurance policy language and Underwriting and Claims Department procedures. Consultation and preparation of Company training materials pertinent to insurance coverage issues. Occasional participation in in-person or telephonic Company meetings concerning the same. Temporary stand-in for Supervising Coverage Attorney, reviewing the work of his or her colleagues during the absence of the Supervising attorney.Job Functions Detailed review of claim and underwriting files, using multiple Company information platforms, and identification and analysis of legal issues presented in more complex files.Research of legal authorities on computer databases.Composition of written opinions including specific recommendations for resolution of the issue or for further investigation. Includes crafting of letters for use by Company personnel when requested.Fielding of less formal inquiries from Company personnel via telephone or email.Review of Company proposals for insurance policy language and drafting of suggested language to address perceived shortcomings in the existing forms. Also consultation on Company training materials.Mentoring less-experienced colleagues including discussing individual files with new issues.Education Requires a law degree and admission to the Bar in the state(s) where practicing.Experience 10 years experience as an Insurance Coverage Attorney. Exceptional research and writing skills.Knowledge And Skills Strong legal research and analysis skills particularly focused on the abstract field of insurance law; Advanced proficiency in written communication.Why choose a career at Mercury?
