As an integral part of a team, the Bar Porter is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest's experience from providing exceptional guest service to stocking bar with designated supplies, ensuring no shortages for guest service. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment according to Hotel specifications. Assist Bartenders and Wait help and Pool help.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Complete opening side duties:

a. Check station assignments and complete work to be done.

b. Check quality and amount of all Bar stock and supplies by using a checklist.

c. Complete opening inventory sheet.

d. Requisition all necessary supplies.

e. Transport supplies from storeroom to designated Bars.

2. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and condition of Bar and service areas; rectify any discrepancies.

3. Prepare lemon & lime juices for bar mixes.

4. Assist Bartender in preparing garnishes and mixes.

5. Replenish supplies and restock ice in Bars throughout shift.

6. Transport soiled wares to dishwasher area.

7. Complete closing duties as assigned.

8. Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

Reports To: House Without A Key Manager & Assistant Manager

Supervises: None

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

* High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate, prior restaurant service and guest relations experience preferred.

* Previous experience in hospitality industry as a bar porter preferred.

* Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

* Liquor Commission Card

* Certification from alcohol awareness program to serve alcoholic beverages preferred.

* Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

* Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.

* Ensure familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

* Knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, wines and non-alcoholic beverages.

* Knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

* Ability to use suggestive selling techniques.

* Knowledge of state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.

* Ability to use chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements preferred.

* Knowledge of proper chemical handling preferred.

* Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.

* Ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.

* Ability to access and input information into P.O.S. system operation and ability to utilize manual procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Ability to transport inventory/supplies orders up to 50 lbs to and from the Storeroom and Orchids/HWAK bar.

* Ability to reach up to 6 feet.

* Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours throughout work shift.

* Maintain stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout work shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Outdoor, non-air conditioned restaurant environment.

* Exposure to hot, humid weather conditions.

* Variable noise levels.
