Job Description

Are you a storyteller? Are you an organized, flexible, ambitious, outside-the-box thinker? Do you want to learn and grow your career as part of a fast-growing team? Then we want to hear from you!

Coffman Engineers is looking for the right individual to support the marketing and proposal writing needs of our busy Honolulu office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for marketing, writing, and relationship building to join our team. The right candidate will work with our Honolulu office marketing manager to support marketing and proposal efforts while supporting the office's business development strategy.

The primary work in this role includes supporting the development of prime and subconsultant proposal materials, other marketing materials, and various communications pieces. Tasks may also include project lead tracking, CRM and marketing database maintenance, presentation development, internal team coordination, event support, and more. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious marketing professional to learn from seasoned AEC marketers and grow your career alongside a thriving office.

Honolulu Marketing Coordinator duties:

  • Assume the title of master juggler. You will be a detail focused, schedule driven, multiple hat-wearing, punctuation enforcing marketing professional. You will have an eye for graphic design, a brain for strategic thinking, a passion for collaboration, and a hunger for learning new concepts. Your marketing responsibilities will grow as you grow at Coffman.
  • Support the writing and production of qualifications-based proposals describing technically complex concepts in a way that non-technical readers can understand. Each proposal is custom written, working from various InDesign templates. The response could be a single page or 50 pages. It could be a response in SF330 format or an architect's request for qualifications. Every situation is unique.
  • Work hand in hand with the local and companywide marketing team, engineers, various departments, and subconsultants to find and track potential project leads, assess prospective clients' needs, and evaluate the competitive environment.
  • Maintain up to date data in various locations including Coffman's CRM, marketing database, backlog database, and more.
  • Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and BD initiatives. You may support tasks ranging from press release writing to trade show coordination and more.
  • Join and engage with appropriate architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry organizations, including Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

We will give you the training, resources, and mentorship you need to succeed in your role, but a basic understanding of A/E/C marketing and proposal processes will accelerate your learning curve and allow you to tackle the necessary tasks more quickly.

Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience in the A/E/C industry or in a related field.
  • Job experience and/or an educational background with an emphasis in marketing, writing, or communications.
  • A proficiency using MS Office 365 programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint). Most of our market materials are assembled in Adobe InDesign, so a working knowledge of this software is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to take direction and work independently while prioritizing tasks associated with simultaneous deadlines.

This is a job that requires using both the left and right sides of your brain. Your application is your best opportunity to demonstrate the skills we're looking for.

To apply, please provide:
  • A single-page cover letter that briefly details your experience and describes what drives you personally.
  • A resume that includes your professional experience, education, achievements, and organizational involvement.
  • Any marketing or writing work samples you have. Proposals, press releases, technical papers, brochures - show us what you've done! We understand that these materials are often confidential, but you are encouraged to be creative with what you show us for work samples.

Please combine all files into one document and upload with your online application. We look forward to learning more about you!

Expected annual salary of $50,000 - $60,000.
