The Honolulu Liquor Commission has five (5) vacancies for LIQUOR CONTROL INVESTIGATOR I. This position, under the supervision of a Liquor Control Investigator III, is part of a team that inspects and conducts investigations where intoxicating liquors are manufactured, sold, and/or consumed and enforces Chapter 281 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS 281) and the Rules of the Liquor Commission. This position ascertains that liquor establishments are complying with terms and conditions of their respective licenses.

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Two (2) years of inspectional or investigative work experience relating to the enforcement of laws, ordinances and/or rules and regulations.
Possession of the required amount of experience will NOT in and of itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. The overall experience must be of sufficient scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position.
An associate's degree or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice (or closely-related major field) will substitute for the required two (2) years of inspectional or investigative work experience relating to the enforcement of laws, ordinances, and/or rules and regulations.
The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, proper documentation, e.g., a foreign credential evaluation (FCE), must be provided.
