PLANNER VII (TRANSPORTATION PLANNING, GENERAL) (SR-28) [1 vacancy]
2025-10-26 CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU all cities,HITheDepartment of Transportation Services,Transportation Performance and Development Division, Programming and Support Branch, is looking for qualified candidates for their Planner VII (Transportation Planning - General) position. Located in Honolulu, the position is responsible for supervising and coordinating several concurrent planning projects, studies and activities with responsibility to ensure the City continues to receive federal funding for capital projects, has input into the State and the OahuMetropolitanPlanning OrganizationTransportationImprovementPrograms; and other related duties as required.
Special Work Requirements:
Must be able to secure confidential information. The incumbent is designated as a Disaster Support Worker (DSW) whose responsibilities may require night and weekend work during natural disasters and other emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university withspecializationin City Planning, Architecture, Engineering,Economics,Sociology,Public Administration or a related field.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four years of professional work experience in transportation planning and/or engineering projects, one of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of the various phases of city planning; trends in Federal, State and local planning as they affect city planning; research methodology and statistical procedures; sources and uses of socio-economic information; State and local laws and ordinances related to city planning; and the principles and practices of supervision.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:
